[Ca]2+ | The [Ca]2+ concentration in mmol/l. [Ca]2+ refers to calcium ions. Calcium ions (Ca2+) contribute to the physiology and biochemistry of organisms' cells. They play an important role in signal transduction pathways, where they act as a second messenger, in neurotransmitter release from neurons, in contraction of all muscle cell types, and in fertilization.
Fatigue 1 | This is the ability to cope with muscle pain.
Fatigue 2 | This is basically how much carbs are stored in the body.
Fatigue 3 | This is the ability to cope with cardiovascular fatigue.
Fatigue-Curve |
This calculation is based on the relation of the neural imput to the muscle-cells from 0% to 100%. This creates an increase in [Ca]2+ making the muscle contract. Due to the state of the 3 types of fatigue, a different amount of power in (VO2tot) can be produced.

|
VO2tot | VO2tot represents the total amount of oxygen (VO2) required to resynthesize all the ATP that is utilized at a given intensity. However, in reality, there is always some glycolysis (vLa) and sometimes also a change in [GP] that results in the actual VO2 having a different value. |
