Amphipathic lipids | Amphipathic lipids are molecules that are mostly lipid-like (hydrophobic) in structure, but at one end have a region that is polar or ionic (hydrophilic). The hydrophilic region is usually referred to as the head group, and the lipid portion is know as the tail(s). These lipids play an importaind role in forming a celmembrane.
CellMembrane | The cell membrane, also known as the plasma membrane, is a double layer of lipids and proteins that surrounds a cell. It separates the cytoplasm (the contents of the cell) from the external environment. The cell membrane is a feature of all cells, both prokaryotic and eukaryotic. It regulates the transport of materials entering and exiting the cell
Cytoplasm | Cytoplasm is the fluid that fills the inside of a cell, which is composed of water, salts, and various organic molecules . It also contains filaments, proteins, ions, macromolecular structures, and organelles suspended in the fluid.
Homeostasis | Homeostasis is the process or tendency of an organism or body to maintain a stable internal environment that is suitable for sustaining life. Homeostasis involves regulating various physiological processes, such as temperature and blood sugar, at fairly constant and balanced levels. Homeostasis is a dynamic equilibrium, in which continuous change occurs yet relatively uniform conditions prevail.
Proteins | Proteins are large biomolecules and macromolecules that comprise one or more long chains of amino acid residues. They perform a vast array of functions within organisms, including catalyzing metabolic reactions, DNA replication, responding to stimuli, providing structure to cells and organisms, and transporting molecules from one location to another. |
